Newsletter (Aug 2006)

Dear friends,

Ever since we made our debut appearance at the LA Times Festival of Books this past April (Photos will be posted on our website in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned!), we at Ex Machina Press have been working nonstop in our goal to provide the best resources for both readers and writers alike, whether it’s through our main publication Silent Voices: a creative mosaic of fiction, or our community board where three people have been published thanks to our Peer Review Section. We wanted to give all of you some updates regarding what has been going on with Ex Machina Press.

Get a Free Copy of Ex Machina Volume Two Along With Silent Voices Gift Pack

When you order this special Gift Pack of both Volume 1 and Volume 2 of Silent Voices you will also receive a FREE copy of Ex Machina Volume 2 — three books that would normally cost $32.00 are now available to you for only $19.95! Here is the forward of Ex Machina Volume Two by Author Chuck Rosenthal (Never Let Me Go)

Here are the wonderful stories from our surreal semester. Here houses burn and drunks save the world from themselves, lovers cheat, cheaters love, and mothers leave their children; voices follow people but people do not follow voices. These are stories of disembodied screams and embodied histories, of love on the cusp, on the beach, gone good, gone bored, gone bad, gone. We eat pizza while our houses burn, our childhoods flee, our adulthoods comes crashing down like Armenian unrealities, American bombs on Japan, slashed tires, demons named Jyn. Here’s a bunch of fun stuff that tests where you are and doesn’t care. Enjoy it.

-- Chuck Rosenthal

So don’t hesitate now. Treat yourself to three volumes of thought-provoking fiction for only $19.95.

Success with our Community Board

We at Ex Machina Press believe that writing doesn’t have to be a lonely journey. Therefore, we created our Community Board as a forum where writers can help each other in their craft, especially the Peer Review Section. Three authors were published in other journals because of the Forum. Here is one testimonial from one satisfied published writer.

Thanks for stopping in on my story. Sorry, it's gone. In fact, it is being published in the summer issue of Duck & Herring Co.'s Pocket Field Guide. I thought it was worth mentioning that I received some really helpful feedback on this site -- concrete suggestions to improve LOVE AT THE WAWA. I followed the advice, kindly shared, and now I am being published. I have really benefited from my membership on this forum and hope that others take advantage of this site, too.

West Hollywood Book Fair (2006) and UCLA Festival of Books (2007)

Ex Machina Press will have a booth at the West Hollywood Book Fair on September 17, 2006. We also reserved a booth for next year’s LA Times Festival of Books (April 2007). More details will come later. Stay tuned.

We want to thank you for your support in Ex Machina Press. We will keep you updated with all events as they come along. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to write me at peter@ExMachinaPress.com

In the meantime, take care, many thanks again and KEEP WRITING.

Best regards,
