Newsletter (May 2007)

Dear Friends,

Ex Machina Press made its presence known at UCLA during the LA Times Festival of Books. Lots of sun, lots of customers, Featured Author Tod Goldberg signing copies of Silent Voices Volume Three, and plenty of panel discussions, featuring authors who share their words of wisdom about their craft. Now that everyone has recovered from the event, some current items everyone needs to know.

Silent Voices Volume Three on sale now. Silent Voices Volumes One and Two available on Amazon, Baker and Taylor, and Barnes and Noble

Silent Voices, Volume Three, has made its debut at UCLA and is now on sale through our website. This new edition features short fiction by Tod Goldberg (the L.A. Times Book Prize finalist for Living Dead Girl), Marlon James (the New York Times Editor’s Choice for John Crow’s Devil,), Pushcart Prize nominee Pete Duval (Rear View), and eight other talented authors. It will be available on Amazon, Baker and Taylor, and Barnes and Noble around late June. It's listed, but it is technically not stocked yet until late June (ah, the joys of paperwork being processed). But it is now available through our website book page:

Submission Call for Silent Voices Volume Four Begins August 1

And the games shall begin once again. Last year, we had 400 submissions for Silent Voices Volume Three. What will it be this year? The Fall Issues of Poets and Writers and Writer's Chronicle will announce the following:

Submission Call for Silent Voices, Volume Four begins August 1 and ends November 10. All submission guidelines are listed here.

I cannot stress this enough: we also sponsor a contest during this call. For a $300 prize, enter your work for only $12. Here is the link

Remember, we are not accepting early submissions. People often ask us what kind of fiction we publish. The answer is simple: all kinds. Check out the submission guidelines and we strongly recommend to purchase sample copies of ANY volume. The quality of excellence is universal for all three volumes. So, break those typewriters out and create some magic. We are looking forward to receiving your work in August.

KXLU Radio with Ex Machina Press Co-Founders on Website

The radio interview on KXLU (88.9FM), featuring the Co-Founders of Ex Machina Press---Peter A. Balaskas and Mark D'Anna, is now on our website. Listen to what they have to say about Silent Voices, Loyola Marymount University, and other exciting stuff. Peter's interview with KCSN's Martin Perlich is also featured on the website. Check it out.

During the next few months, we'll be making slight adjustments to our website, so bear with us on that. We want to thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to write me at Exmachinapab@aol.com

In the meantime, take care, many thanks again and KEEP WRITING.

Best regards,
